Masuria bench made for a special client.
The MASURIA bench project was created with the idea of using the innovative Boomplastic sheet of the same name. This material is made from recycled polypropylene strings from a farm located in Masuria. The used strings contain natural inclusions – in this case reed – which gives the sheet a unique character. The ribbed form of the bench was inspired by the structure of reed straws.
MASURIA was designed as an element of public space – ideal for a moment of rest, for example at the museum ticket office or in front of an exhibit. However, it will work just as well in private spaces, such as a terrace or hallway.
The design of the bench was developed with simplicity of assembly in mind – the user can easily assemble it themselves. All elements are easy to disassemble, which allows them to be reused or recycled. The product is delivered in a flatpack form, which minimizes the transport footprint.
MASURIA can be made from any Boomplastic sheet and scaled to various sizes, up to a maximum width of 2.35 m.
The project achieved an honorable mention at the Guiltless Plastic 2021 competition organized by Rossana Orlandi.

When cutting out elements from our sheets, fragments of unused material often remain. How to use them effectively?
The name of the pattern “Confetti” is not accidental. Colourful particles of the milling material disperse irregularly – sometimes they take the form of points, other times they create streaks. Their movement resembles confetti swirling in the wind, which was the inspiration for giving it this name.
