MASURIA bench

Project:  NAJ DESIGN X BOOMPLASTIC

Masuria is a minimalist bench for public spaces, made of unusual waste – polypropylene binder twines contaminated with organic reed waste.

The concept was born from the need to use waste from polypropylene binder twines, which are used by a family company producing reed mats (Phragmates australis). Masuria solves the problem of post-production waste that is no longer accepted for recycling due to organic fragments included in it.
By using them to produce plastic sheets, we create new value by changing local perceptions of waste: from polluting waste to a useful resource. The second life we give plastic can lead to another one, because all design elements are recyclable.
The Masuria bench made of plastic waste collected at Naturalex in Masuria was created by Dorota Balewicz and Marta Orszt in cooperation with Adam Krzemiński from Boomplastic.

The project was presented and received a distinction at the exhibition of the finalists of the Guiltless Plastic Rossana Orlandi 2021 competition in Milan and Doha, Qatar.

Grażyny 1 Canteen

Boomplastic panels have found their home in Warsaw’s Grażyny 1 milk bar, designed by Public studio. The Konfetti-patterned surfaces subtly attract the eye.
